The milk stool was originally a design for Zuiderzeemuseum in the Netherlands.

The stool is based on a little old stool the designers found in the depots of the museum. Presumably it was decades ago used as a milk stool. The designers translated this old stool into a modern and usable version.

The designers like the stool as an interior object since it has an informal character; it may linger and can be used to sit on, but also as a side table.
